What Are Heavenly Stems?
The 10 Heavenly Stems (天干, Tiān Gān) represent the celestial or "sky" energy in your BaZi chart. Each stem carries both an element and a polarity (Yin or Yang):

Your Day Master (日主)
The most important stem in your chart is the Day Master — the stem of your Day Pillar. This is YOU at your core. Everything else in the chart is interpreted in relation to it.
For example, if your Day Master is 癸 (Yin Water), you're like gentle rain — intuitive, adaptable, and quietly powerful. All the other stems and branches are then classified as "friends" or "challenges" based on how they relate to Water.
